What's Inside the 2026 Annual Qi Datebook!
Each year features one of the Five Period Qi, one of the Six (Climatic) Qi, one of the Ten Heavenly Stems, and one of the Twelve Branches, which together influence and shape the year's expression combinations. This creates the 60-year calendar, as it takes 60 years to return to the initial Five Period Qi, initial Six Qi, initial Stem, and initial Branch. The most recent occurrence of this was in 1984; the next will be in 2044.
One of the most enlightening aspects of knowing and understanding the 60-year calendar is that we can go back in time to see the types of events and weather phenomena that were present during a particular combination of Stem and Branch. For example, this current decade, the 2020s, has the same Stem and Branch combination that was present during the 1960s. For this year, 2026, we have the same Stem and Branch combination as 1966. Knowing this gives us the insight that we are in the middle of a decade of incredible change.
